I’ve been working on growing this project and I’m so excited to see so many new faces following along! There are a lot of great home design and lifestyle blogs out there so I’m really touched you have chosen to connect with me! For the new folks, I figured I should reintroduce myself (and take a shameless opportunity to get some mileage out of our wedding photos)!
So, Hi! I’m Elizabeth, the face behind NEST & NOURISH. I’ve had a long-time passion for writing (fun fact: I was a journalism major in college), and thought our big adventure into home ownership, renovation and marriage would be a great opportunity to get back into it. The goal of this blog is to share and connect with others around all things home, from design to domestic life. Domestic can seem like a sterile, old-fashioned word but it really is the best way to sum up my favorite things! Interior decorating, cooking, family, cozy nights on the couch sipping wine, sleeping in, and just being a general homebody.
I’m originally from Southern California but now live in Seattle with my newly-wedded husband in our 1930 craftsman-ish style home. I say craftsman-ish because it seems to combine elements of both craftsman (low pitched roof, front porch), and Tudor (coved ceilings, arches). Apparently 1930 was a weird year for design because of the Great Depression.
People often ask why I would ever move from sunny California to grey, rainy Seattle, and I have to remind them that I actually moved here by way of Chicago & Minneapolis (grad school, job), so comparatively Seattle weather seemed a lot nicer! I do miss the year-round sunshine, but Seattle is a beautiful place in its own way and now we are building a home here.
I hope to inspire and connect with you here on the blog and I’m looking forward to sharing more of our journey!
