Dressing Room Design Board

One of the great things of having a four bedroom house for only two people (for now) is that I get a whole room for my clothes and vanity! The closets in the upstairs bedrooms actually aren’t that small, but not walk-ins and sharing would be tight and our bathroom isn’t large so I don’t have a good place to do makeup. We agreed I could have the second upstairs bedroom for all my lady stuff :-). Longer term, we may build out a master sweet downstairs but we are a little on the fence of having it in the basement. Though it’s only partially underground and has high ceilings. Adding a second story is also an option (a little more grandiose) we’ve thrown out.

My dressing room has been a fun one to design because I can make it a little more feminine. The closet size isn’t that bad, but I will still need some extra storage for both hanging and folded items (jeans, sweaters, etc.). Right now I have a metal rolling rack but I wanted something that looked a little more permanent. I decided to try out the Elvarli open clothes storage system from Ikea as it is fully customizable so I can add on if needed. I had already purchased the Alex desk from Ikea for my vanity when we were living in the basement, and that is staying. I also got the Alex drawer unit for extra makeup and jewelry storage. I considered getting a nicer table like the Parsons desk from West Elm or Runway desk from CB2, but I figured cheaper was probably better for a place that could see a lot of makeup messes. I am upgrading from my old Threshold stool to a lovely upholstered chair from West Elm .

A bit surprisingly, Lance actually likes the pink rug (which we discovered from the Airbnb we stayed at in San Clemente for our wedding) and suggested it for living room, but I don’t think it’ll go with as well because of the open concept flow to dining and kitchen.

Some of the products are still on order, but once I get it all set up and the trim painted I will share photos!
