I’m back, and we have a functional garage!

Well I’ve been a horrible at this blog thing lately. I need to be more diligent about setting aside time for writing. Things have been a little crazy with the remodel, wedding planning, work travels, etc. But no excuses. A lot has happened on the house, though it isn’t the most glamorous stuff – electrical, plumbing, brick work, drywall, etc. We’re getting ready to finally move in this weekend, even though we still won’t have a functional kitchen or main bath (don’t worry, there’s still a small one downstairs). We’ll be rooming with our live-in contractor (and friend) for a bit, so should be an adventure!

One exciting development, well probably only exciting to us, is we got a garage door! We didn’t notice when we put an offer on the house that the detached garage was missing a door. Oops. Essentially it was a carport. The electrical out to it had also been cut off. The garage was fairly useless for much other than parking a car, since we didn’t want to keep anything in it without a door. So getting a door was a requirement especially for Lance so he could store all his tools and have a dry place for his motorcycle.

Well it’s in now and it looks great! We just ordered it with primer since we are eventually going to paint all the trim on the house and garage. We thought we were just getting a basic door but apparently they all come WiFi enabled to allow you to also control via your phone – fancy! Lance is obsessed with how quiet the door is. He’s like a giddy child every time he opens and closes it. Haha. We also had to have a trench dug across the yard to route electrical out. Surprisingly it didn’t tear up the yard too much and the new grass is already growing back.

Here are some before, in progress and after shots.

All covered up. Yes, our lawn is horrible. We have completely neglected it since we haven’t lived there. But once the raining season starts we won’t even have to water!
